The South Celestial Pole above the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) on June 7, 2000.
CTIO is located 300 miles of Santiago, Chile, and about 50 miles east of LaSerena.  The author was
on a working visit to the observatory, to take data for the 2MASS (2-Micron All Sky Survey) project,
a joint venture between the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) and the California Institution of
Technology (CIT) in Pasadena, California.  The center dome houses the 4-meter Blanco telescope.
The above 6-hour time exposure was taken using A Contarex camera, and Kodacolor print film.
