A Caltrans (California State Highway Department) 'snowblower' clearing the Angeles Crest Highway
some 14 miles west of Wrightwood, California on March 29, 2011. This particular vehicle has two
separate diesel engines: one for moving the vehicle, the other for the massive snowblower device
that can cut into 12 foot drifts. Occasionally, along with the snow, rocks up to the size of
basketballs are propelled out of nozzle upwards of 120 feet.
