A 'Great Blue Heron' rests on a spruce tree limb. This was at the edge of the Nehalem River, near
the community of Nehalem, Oregon, November 25, 2010 at a boat ramp along Highway 101. It was
the boat ramp that suggested a possible bird area to look for something. As my wife and I pulled in
to the dock, this bird took off from the shore and landed on the spruce tree limb, some 200 feet to
the north. I found a good spot under the river bridge, and only 100 feet from the bird to take this
picture. Oh, and yes the bird has both legs....one is hidden behind the other.
