Dinosaur National
Monument lies on the Colorado/Utah border, some 160 miles east of Salt
Lake City
and 320 miles west of Denver a few miles north of US Highway 40.
In the above image, taken from
the trail's end near Harper's Corner (looking east), one sees Steamboat
Rock in the foreground with
the Green River flowing left (north and then west). Behind the
'Rock' to the left center is the same
river coming further from Wyoming. To the right center, the muddy
Yampa River coming from much
further east connects with the Green (behind the 'Rock'). This
view was taken June 20, 2011 from
the viewpoint at 7500 feet elevation, some two thousand feet above the
rivers.
