A Great Blue Heron (ardea herodias) photographed in Wheeler, Oregon on the shores of the Nehalem
River. This shore bird, measuring up to 46 inches tall with a wing span of 6 feet, slowly walks along
the shores of rivers and bays, mostly preying on small fish and amphibians. This is an extremely shy
bird, and is easily distracted by the sounds and movements of paparazzi like myself!
