A Perseid meteor streaks above the Big Dipper to the north on the morning of August 13,
2016. The shower was quite spectacular, as we viewed and photographed the event from
the Cascade Mountains in central Oregon. The above image also shows the green airglow
that was seen with the unaided eye as well. We estimated there were 2 - 4 meteors
per minute after the moon set around 1 AM.
