An intense lightning storm crossed US Highway 89 north of Flagstaff, Arizona near Gray Mountain on
September 12, 2011. Using several neutral density filters, the author took numerous hand held time
exposures of three seconds each until this strike, about three miles away, occurred during one of the
exposures. This is the authors first daytime photograph of a lightning strike.
