The White Mountains of California as
seen on August 10, 2010 from an elevation of 11000
feet, while
looking north. White Mountain itself, with an elevation of 14242
feet, is the small peak to the left of
center (20 miles from the camera). In the foreground is a stand
of Bristlecone Pine trees, the oldest
living things on earth today. In the Schulman Grove four miles to
the south, a tree named Methuselah
has been dated around 4600 years old.
