Manzanita, Oregon as seen from the south slope of Neahkahnie Mountain along US Highway 101 about
35 miles south of Astoria. Looking south from an elevation of around 560 feet, the coastal beach
community seen here is home to several state parks where kite-surfing is common at Neahkahnie Beach
(large beach area at left center). In the foreground are the ever present foxglove (digitalis), a biennial
plant, seen throughout the coastal areas of the northwest.
