Comet Ikeya-Seki, discovered in September 1965, became one of the brightest comets of the 20th
century. This sun-grazing comet, seen here on October 30, 1965, had just swung around the sun
on October 21. By the end of October and into November of 1965, the view of Ikeya-Seki was
greatly enhanced by its nearly 30 degree-long extremely bright tail.
